It wasn’t clear to me what was going on between Walgreens and Express Scripts until I found out that Walgreens was calling on the support of their loyal customers for it to continue as part of Express Scripts’ network of pharmacy providers. It turned out that although the two were having negotiations for new terms on Walgreens’ contract with Express Scripts, nothing happened; thus, the contract of Walgreens expired on December 31, 2011 and it was never renewed.

Do you know what this means? This means that consumers who are under Express Scripts’ program would now have to look elsewhere to buy their medicines. No longer can they take advantage of Walgreens’ 24/7 and drive-thru pharmacy conveniences. In fact, some might even have to travel great distances just to get their fill of prescriptions.

Still, Walgreens is endeavoring to continue with other projects, especially those that would help men and women in the military who are under TriCare. They are also encouraging people to try the Prescription Savings Club at Walgreens. Walgreens has lowered the membership fees for individuals and families for the whole month of January to encourage people to sign up for this.
